Belts
For the proper operating of all the systems your car needs different belt. And it is also very important to maintain these belts in good conditions. Shabby, loose or too tight belts can significantly lower the performance of your vehicle and lead to a breakdown. It is a good idea to check the conditions of your car's belts and hoses every time your change oil.
The main problem with belts is that they may look pretty good while they are dry (or even broken). That is why a very careful check of your car's belt is needed.
Working engine produces a great vibration which affects the tension of belts. That is why you need to check not only the condition of your vehicle belts but also their tension.
To achieve an optimal performance for your car you need strong belts. If belts are loose the efficiency of your car's electrical system is low and even can result in overheating. But very tight belt can stretch and easily rip. So you need just the correct tension (as it is said in manufacturer's manual).
To avoid possible breakdown it is recommended to check your belts regularly (at least every six months). And it is also recommended to have a complete replacement of your car's belts every four years.
